About MarMax/Technics, Inc.

Technics, Inc. and Marmax Systems have serviced the manufacturing equipment needs of the cast polymer industry for over twenty years. In the late 1970’s and early 1980’s many cultured marble plants were rather primitive by today’s standards. We were approached by a local, growing cultured marble manufacturer, Bill Harris, owner of American Marble; he was locating to a new facility and was interested in setting up a conveyor system that would allow his employees to move molds around the shop to different work areas. Drawing on our background of material handling systems for manufacturing plants and distribution centers, we developed a “track” system which not only enabled his employees to easily move molds to and from each work station but also to place the molds in vertical conveyor racks for curing and storage. Not satisfied with equipment being adapted from other industries, more inquiries were made about building booths, ovens, scissors lifts, and other components specifically for the need of a marble shops.

From this first system, news spread about this new equipment designed just for marble plants. The first decade of business was spent building equipment and traveling from one plant to another installing production systems. Attendance and exhibits at Polycon and other trade shows throughout the years brought increased interest from other domestic and international manufacturers.

By the mid 1980’s some cultured marble manufacturers cast an eye toward expanding their businesses by producing densified products or solid surface. After testing and evaluating equipment thought to produce an acceptable product it became clear a new type of mixer would be required. However, very little knowledge of how to make solid surface was available. So the first matter at hand was very “hands on”; how to make “densified”, then engineer the equipment to fulfill that requirement.

The result was development of the Series II vacuum mixers and the Pot Tamer pouring dolley. As solid surface became more popular the industry grew and provided us the opportunity to develop more equipment. Later developments included dust collectors, post curing ovens, and stainless steel molds.

Solid surface manufacturing has thrived and cultured marble remains stronger than ever. Now, with many manufacturers evaluating the “fit” of natural and engineered stone products to their current business plans we look forward to creating new solutions to help you increase your productivity and efficiency.

From our manufacturing plant and warehouse facilities in Birmingham, Alabama, we design, build, and test our equipment. We have remained a family owned company and have made many valued long term relationships with our customers over the years. Most know us as their source to call whenever they need equipment, mixers, steel molds, or assistance with special projects. We pride ourselves on having the ability and manufacturing capacity to work with our customers “one on one” to provide standard components or equipment for “one of a kind” applications.

From a single mixer to a full scale, state of the art, production system we want to be your source for manufacturing equipment.
